Sacramento owes its existence to the efforts of a Swiss Immigrant John Sutter who was instrumental in putting it on the map. The city shares its history with the Gold Rush Phenomenon that came about in the mid 1800s. Now a city with more choices then one can think of when it comes to food, fun and frolic.

Tip 1 - A visit to the Sutter's Fort in Sacramento is for those who loved that part of American history that is entwined with memories of the Gold Rush. Sutter's Fort has a collection of artifacts from that era. Currently a State Historic Park the fort has been renovated recently and is visited by thousands of people each year.

Tip 2 - K Street Mall is for the shoppers, foodies and movie goers. All people who wish to visit Sacramento and have a good time with their families shouldn't give the K Street Shopping Mall area a miss.

Tip 3 - One of the first art museums in the west, the Crocker Art Museum has collections such as Asian Art, American and European Art, Photography and much more. Crocker was a privately held museum for a long time before opening its doors to the public in 1885.

Tip 4 - All those who would to visit the Old real west of the mid 1800s in its heydays should visit one of the last remnants from that era. Old Sacramento still retains its old world charm. There are museums, sightseeing options, landmarks and theaters one can choose from while visiting Old Sacramento. Currently a historic district with over 50 surviving buildings this is a must visit.

Tip 5 - Host to more than 400 animals Sacramento Zoo this is one of the biggest zoos in the country. It has grown from its original 4.2 acres to 14.3 acres presently. Since 1927 this zoo has grown from strength to strength and conducts conservation programs, classes and camps to inform young children on the importance of animals, conservation classes and much more.

The average yearly temperature of the place is about 16 c. The lowest that the temperature falls to is 3 c in the month of December and January and the highest that it goes up to is 34 c in the months of July and August. The lowest temperature being way above freezing point, experiencing snowfall in your Sacramento travel is near to impossible.

Snowfall here is very rare and occurs only at the top of the hills that are at least 65 kilometres from the centre of the city. Also though summers tend to get quite hot, it is cooled off or made gentle by a breeze that comes to the city from the San Francisco Bay, known as the delta breeze.

The annual rainfall of this city is about 21.5 inches, most of it occurring in winter. Rainfall during summer is a rare event though sometimes the formation of monsoonal clouds may arise in showers that may cause light thunderstorms too. But such a happening is unexpected and the entire 21.5 inches of rainfall is spread over a period of about sixty days during the peak winter months- January and December.

During the wet and winter season a dense fog, that may also be dangerous for driving and other activities, is formed. This is known as the Tule fog and it is known to chill the months of December and January.

All in all the weather in Sacramento is not only bearable but rather pleasant too and a tour to this place maybe apt during any time of the year.
