Sutter's Fort

Sutter's Fort is located in Sutter's Fort State Historic Park in Sacramento, California. Named after its builder, John Sutter, the fort was originally called New Helvetia. The construction of the fort started in 1839. The fort is significant as the first non-native American community of California Central Valley. Sutter's Fort is famous for being in proximity to the Siskiyou Trails and the end of California Trail.

Visitors can also opt for the self-guided audio tour of the fort. There are special events hosted at the fort all through the year.
