Towe Auto Museum is generally known as California Automobile Museum, is an automobile museum situated in Sacramento, California. The museum has a huge collection of automobiles, more than 160 race cars, classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars and early models displayed all over 72,000 square feet of the museum area. The aim of the Towe Auto Museum is to entertain and educate while promoting and preserving the vehicles and its influence on our lives. The museum is open every day from 10Am to 6PM (last admission PM) and every third Thursday until 9PM.

The Towe Auto Museum was the first museum to be started in perpetuity in the west. The museum was founded in the year 1983. In the year 1987, the museum was opened to the public as Towe Ford Museum, greatly exhibiting the huge variterty of Fords in the world.

In the year 1997, the museum name was changed to Towe Auto Museum, since they started displaying automobiles of all models and makes. In 2009, the board of directors officially renamed the museum as California Automobile Museum, reflecting the extended mission it has developed into over the past twenty five years.

Many of the automobiles presently on display are on loan from the private exhibitors. Only about twenty five percent of the automobiles are owned by the California Vehicle Museum.

Some of the vehicles are on loan some for five years and some of them are for a month; therefore the display is a continually changing display of the rolling stock to better tell the story of the expansion of the vehicles and its effect on our lives.

Towe Auto Museum has cars of some of the auto companies which have even started the production of cars with the look of the vintage models. This museum has all types of latest as well as primitive cars. Even these latest cars with the vintage looks are sold for millions by the museum.

The recent report of the Towe Museum says that now most of the vintage and classical cars are with the private owners. Some of the private owners keep these vintage cars as a part of their hobby and some of them sell them off if they get a better price. Vintage and classical cars will always remain a passion for the car lovers.

The Towe Auto Museum authorities somehow manage to purchase vintage cars from some needy person then they sell the vintage cars in the auction. Towe Auto Museum collects vintage cars and maintains them for future records and for the visitors. They will not sell their classical cars no matter what happens or what they are offered. But still today antique and vintage cars are sold in the auction at some unbelievable prices.

Most of the vintage cars in the car shows are not driven anymore. They are just a part of exhibition. Classical cars are measured to be high quality car which were produced before the world war two. People are ready to pay millions of dollars for classical cars. Today only few classical cars are left in the world and even some of them are in working condition.
