However there is also a 'Basic Single Fare' accepted on the buses and light rail, and can be obtained from the various ticket vending machines available. For people who don't have an internet access handy, the 'Bus and Rail Timetable Book' gives all the information and comes at a nominal price of $2.00.
The basic fare on the Sacramento transit service for people between 19 and 61 years is $2.50 for a single ride and $6 for a day pass. The rates for seniors, people with disabilities, medicare cardholders, students below 19 years is at half rate for single and day passes. The rates are $1.25 and $3 respectively.
There are over 30 routes that are serviced by the Sacramento Transit authority. The individual schedules for all these routes can be obtained online at the official website. For a lot of these routes the rail starts at approximately 4 am to 11 pm at night. However these timings vary from route to route.
Moreover, for people with physical disabilities, the regional transit department has also got a 'Paratransit' door-to-door transportation in place. However, in order to avail the paratransit services, you have to register beforehand. Other than the paratransit service, the RT buses are also equipped with wheelchairs and wheelchair securement areas.
