California State Capitol

California State Capitol is one of the major attractions in Sacramento. The structure built 1861 and 1874 subscribes to the neoclassical style of architecture. The building finds place in the National Register of Historic Places as of 1973. The Capitol is home to the office of the Governor of California and the California State Legislature. The State Capitol went through a major renovation helping in restoring the original look of the building.

There is the California Senate Chamber that is located inside the structure and which can accommodate 40 members. The entrance to the chamber is through the second floor corridor and the red carpeting in the chamber comes with a Victorian era design.

The red tones of the chamber hint towards the British House of Lords (upper house of a bicameral legislature). At the opposite end of the Senate, you will find the California Assembly Chamber with green tones which remind one of the British House of Commons (lower house of a bicameral legislature).
